Baptized on 24 May 1821 at the Cathedral of St. Louis. Her mother was listed as Gertrudis Alba, a free woman of color. Gertrudis, along with her son, Adolfo, and Mariana Alba, a free woman of color who may be Gertrudis’ mother, appears in the 1820 Spanish census of Penscola. It is unclear whether Gertrudis had relocated her household from Pensacola at the time.
