Black female, born around 1902 in Alabama. Died in Pensacola, FL on 10 November 1907 at the age of 5, from burns. The death is recorded in the city ledger only; there is no extant death certificate. The father and mother were both born in Alabama; there is no other information about them. The physician was Dr. E.F. Bruce. She was buried in the Escambia County Poor Farm cemetery by F.R. Pou.
The death record appears to record her name as “Ever” or “Eve,” but in the Pensacola Journal of 17 November 1907, she is listed as “Eva.”
The name “Bangal” produces no results anywhere in Florida or Alabama, and variations such as “Bengal” or “Bingle” produce very little. I suspect a misspelling. Without any more information to go on, little Eva will win this game of hide-and-seek.
