Basil Pol*

An enslaved man in the household of Antonio Pol in Pensacola, Florida.

Born around 1792. Race is recorded as negro.

Bill of Sale: 1 May 1827 – Antonio Pol sold him to Maria Vellon, a free woman of color, for $300. The deed states that he was sold “with all his defects and illnesses.” As most bills of sale warrant enslaved persons to be free of defect or illness, this may indicate he had a disability or chronic health condition of some kind.
