Black male, born about 1868 in Alabama. Died in Pensacola, FL of phthisis pulmonalis (tuberculosis) on 26 November 1898 at the age of 30. His occupation was laborer; there was no indication of his marital status or how long he had lived in Pensacola. His death record is found in the City Deaths ledger; there are no extant death certificates from 1898 available online. He was buried in the Escambia County Poor Farm cemetery by Pou & Robinson.
A search of his name produces three Black males by the same name and about the same age: one was found in the 1870 federal census of Brewton, Escambia County, AL in the household of Henry and Avaline Bragg; one was found in the 1870 federal census of Lowndesboro, Lowndes Co., AL in the household of Bass J. and Cely Bragg; and one was found in the 1880 federal census of Madison County, AL in the household of Winnie Bragg. If the Albert Bragg in Lowndes County stayed in Lowndes County, he was still alive to marry Drusilla Golson in 1903. A Madison County-based Albert Bragg was still alive in the 1900 federal census. This leaves the Escambia County, AL Albert Bragg as the most likely candidate to be the decedent in 1898; however, further verification of his identity is needed.
