John Bovis

Black male, born about 1865 in Alabama of two parents born in Alabama. He died on 9 March 1901 in Pensacola, Florida, of pneumonia, at the age of 36. He was married, but there is no information on his spouse. His occupation was listed as laborer and he had been in the state for 5 years at the time of his death. The physician listed on the record is James R. Landrum, who was the supervisor of the Escambia County Poor Farm, so presumably that is where he died. He was buried in the Escambia County Poor Farm by inmates of the farm.

I have found no records to match the information on this death record. A John Bovis who served in the Spanish-American War died in 1948.
